MARDEN & DISTRICT RIDING CLUB -  Spring 2012 update

Originally set up 24 years ago, this friendly & very successful unaffiliated Club aims to continue providing a happy, relaxed atmosphere at each of its regular indoor & outdoor events 

Riders of all ages & levels of ability (Members & non-Members) are welcome at every event, with Entries taken on the day 

New Members are invited to join from 1 April when annual new & renewal applications are accepted until the list closes on 31 July. (Full details available to download following AGM) 

"Marden" has been described as an "ideal stepping-stone". Offering a gentle introduction to nervous newcomers/novices with relaxed rules & dress code in certain competitions. Whilst also providing "competitive" classes for the more advanced, or those needing encouragement to progress 

Thanks must go to the Clubs supporters (past & present) - those who kindly allow their facilities to be used, "friends" who donate or sponsor, & the small but fantastic group of volunteers without whose help the Club would not exist 

This years Club calendar begins with the AGM (Annual General Meeting) to be held on:
Thursday 23 February 7.30pm  at Preston Wynne Village Hall 

An informal but important Meeting which Members, parents & guardians of Junior Members are requested to attend. Agenda includes election of a new Committee (hopefully others unable to fully "commit" will also come forward & offer help on a more casual basis?) Also Membership Subs., Entry fees, Rules & planned activities etc. are to be discussed, agreed & voted upon. Afterwards friends & supporters are welcome to join in & participate in an open forum 

It is again proposed to host the Clubs popular monthly, mixed outdoor Shows (April until September) at Houghton Court, Bodenham, Hereford HR1 3HZ 

Off A417 between Burley Gate (A465) & Leominster side of Dinmore Hill (A49), the showground with its panoramic views is easily reached from all parts of Herefordshire, also Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire & Wales 

Ringside car parking is available for spectators around most Rings, with separate Lorry/Trailer parking, Toilets, Catering & Entries Unit all close at hand 

Presentation Night & Disco (DJ Roddy Hankins) will be earlier this year on Saturday 22 September. Members Points winners & runners-up, along with highest placed Members perpetual Trophies from Gala, plus a few "surprises" will be awarded followed by Disco 

Also three Indoor unaffiliated Showjumping events at Kings Equestrian, Bromyard are planned, beginning Sunday 4 March 2012, followed by November & December Xmas Shows
